A crucial part of gaining Followers is keeping them. Getting Followers is important, even so keeping the followers still is even more important.

Other types of media are continually being archived for search as well. While the written word is still king of being found by search I think that we'll increasingly notice video/photos and audio to be more relevant in our archived search results.

Good luck with the blog. Send me a link to share with others---we know that they probably won't being reading books.

Couldn't agree with you more. For years I have noticed the growing tendency for youngsters to read little or nothing unless it can be instantly inhaled, while old codgers (as you say mostly women) love to read.

Making the sales/marketing message shorter is not a slam dunk though. It takes a special talent. Most sales and management people want a long treatise exposed to potential customers, because they think it makes what they have to sell more important, or it makes them look special and expert. Tain't so, though, is it?

This comment is already longer than most people will read!

I have only recently decided to make a blog. Also, I have published my latest biz book online as an E-book. We'll see if either works.

Greg,

Absolutely. Financial planning will be changing too---to buy things later in this extended life, seniors will need to save more or work longer. Probably both.

Yes, and impact on products will be interesting too. There'll be an increase in the number of goods and services oriented towards seniors.

Yep.

Social media opinion seems to be trumping evidence based journalism.

It seems like true journalism doesn't really exist anymore. Half of the time we can predict the response we're going to get (from news interviews, articles, etc) if we're told who the source of the information is. If "stats" are thrown out as evidence they're usually quoted in a way that's truthful-but misleading.
